Meet at the Butterfly Building
LPCA Beautification Committee. April 9, 2026
Attendance: Bob Shulman, Kaen Woolley, Brian Peterson, Karen Kwasniewski, Dave and Anne Cribbins, John, Monica and Myla Novi, Rebecca & Tom Wronski
The Committee met at the Butterfly Building and walked the grounds while discussing various design options. Ideas included adding sunset benches, creating quiet garden areas, and incorporating a space for cornhole games and other possible recreation options. The overall focus is on developing the area into a welcoming and enjoyable community recreation spot.
Several tasks were identified for follow-up. Committee members will investigate the cost of repairing the badly damaged chain-link fence. Additionally, neighbors have generously donated iris bulbs to enhance the landscaping.
Beautification Committee Volunteer Projects
We have several projects underway and would love your help!
Repair the landscape tie wall on the beach
Clean the information board and replace the cork
Clear brush coming through the fence at the Butterfly Building
Remove debris in the Butterfly Building area
Plant iris bulbs in the Butterfly Building and West Beach rock area
Begin weeding around the dam
Here are some pre-pictures
The LPCA Beautification Committee met on March 4, 2026.
Listed below are areas determined to be a priority this spring/summer.
Greger Beach Area
Repair missing part of the landscape wall by the fenced entrance
Information Board - clean and replace cork
Dam
Maintain area by weeding so the “weeds” do not compromise the dam. Many of the weeds have considerable woody roots.
Butterfly Building-The goal is to make this a usable space for people to relax and enjoy the lake.
Remove the broken fence.
Replace the broken chain link fence with a 5 ft tall green welded fence.
Add benches so people who can’t walk to the bench on the beach can sit and enjoy the lake.
There is a donation of bluestone that can be used for a path through the area.
Plant a combination of native and annual plantings to attract pollinators.
There are many other project ideas that were discussed at both meetings for future projects.
The next meeting is on Thursday, April 9th at 6:30 pm. We will meet at the Butterfly building. All are welcome and encouraged to join.
A full list of outlined projects are in the document below.
Lake Plymouth Beautification Committee Meeting
March 4, 2026
Present: Bob Shulman, Lauren Bukowski, Brian Peterson, Dave & Anne Cribbins, Barbara Galvin, Karen Kwasniewski, Rebecca Wronski
Minutes
Discussion was focused on the Butterfly Building and ways to improve the property.
Fencing
Remove the 2 sections in the front near the road.
4-5 sections of the chain link fence are in disrepair on the side of the woods. Ideas were shared about a type of metal or fabric fence. It was then suggested to reuse the 4 pieces for the front.
Several pieces of bluestone can be used to make a path through the garden area. The idea is to place a bench near the road so people can stop and look at the lake. A neighbor suggested making the benches slightly taller than usual to make it easier for an older person to sit and get up. The grade of the land will need to be looked at to determine the best place for a bench.
Ideas were shared about how to place the benches. The use of bluestone, cement, and rocks was mentioned as options.
Accessibility to the Butterfly Building garden is a problem. When the snow melts, the drainage ditch area needs to be observed to determine the best way to connect the garden and the road. Building some sort of bridge over this, like there are many forests, was suggested.
The retaining wall on the beach needs to be repaired. This will be sent to the BOG
The information board needs to be washed and recorked.
Spring community-wide clean-ups will be planned for dam weeding and beach weed raking
Other Areas
Complete Sed Pond rock paintings
West Beach rock plant ferns and daffodilsto help keep the weeds down.
Work party for tree cutting down and making an information board.
Action Items:
Investigate cost for benches
Look at the fence to see if the sections would work.
Next Meeting is Thursday, April 9, 2026
Meet at the Butterfly Building to take measurements and draw up a plan for the garden. The grade of the property can be assessed to determine the best place for a bench.

Happy 2026, Lake Plymouth!
Although the lake is covered in ice and the wind is still chilling, spring is coming.
The Board of Governors (BOG) would like to establish a Beautification Committee focused on enhancing the common areas around our lake. This committee is not intended to replace our regular landscapers, but to complement their work by improving and maintaining areas outside of their contract.
Potential projects may include adding gardens, cleaning up weeds, refurbishing community information boards, and other beautification efforts.
If you are interested, please contact Rebecca Wronski at becca8490@att.net. An initial meeting is planned for the first week of Februaryto discuss ideas and potential projects. Everyone is welcome!
We hope you will consider joining this committee and helping make a positive difference in our community.
